Ways to fix it
Anode rod swap (hot water only)
If only your hot water smells, the magnesium anode rod in the water heater is reacting with sulfates in the water. Swapping it for an aluminum-zinc or powered anode usually ends it — a quick, inexpensive fix we confirm on site before recommending anything bigger.
