City Water Filtration in Easton
Easton’s municipal water is treated river water — chlorinated, publicly regulated, and a different hardness story than Allentown’s limestone creek supply. The everyday notices are chlorine taste and, in College Hill and Downtown housing, the lead question that comes with a city this old. Filtration is carbon, a softener only if your reading is hard, and kitchen RO if a lead sample is high.
Easton Suburban Water Authority and City of Easton treatment cover much of the Forks–Palmer–Wilson ring as well. We still test the tap in front of us. River water is not automatically “very hard.” A salesperson quoting 13 grains because Allentown is 13 grains is not doing Easton. Historic plumbing is the local extra: lead has no taste.
